Alan Unveils Ambitious Plans To TUC

The founder and leader of the Movement for Change and Independent presidential candidate in the 2024 polls, John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has promised drastic reduction in the number of ministers to be appointed if elected as president in the upcoming elections.

According to the former Trade and Industries Minister, in addition to the sixteen Regional Ministers, he will only appoint forty ministers to cut cost for other sectors of the economy.

Mr Alan Kyerematen unveiled this ambitious plan when he interacted with the Steering Committee members of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Accra yesterday.

He stressed on the need to reduce the number of appointees to make savings for the development of all sectors of the economy. He highlighted the need for lean and efficient government.

The presidential aspirant promised to amend the 1992 Constitution to establish a Corruption Czar with ant-corruption prosecutorial powers to vigorously fight corruption. Alan bemoaned how the country loses a chunk of its resources to corruption.

The former Trade and Industry minister also promised fiscal discipline and reduction in government borrowing. He added that he would limit state participation in the market to improve liquidity.

Alan further told the trade unionists that he would commit more funds to the One District – One Factory popularly known as 1D1F in partnership with the private sector to offer teeming unemployed youth jobs.

“I will put more funds into the programme to revamp it and make it attractive to the youth,” he added. Mr Alan Kyerematen also promised to create industrial zones in all sixteen regional capitals.
