Alan Cash ‘cashes in’ on NPP Confab

Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen arrived at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, venue for the New Patriotic Party’s 2021 Annual Delegates Conference to a rousing welcome from party delegates and grassroots in the Ashanti Region.

“It’s Alan’s Time”, Yɛ nim no fri tete” “Time aso oo Time aso”, “Eduru ne so,” were some of the slogans the supporters were chanting. The development came as a surprise to many because as directed by the party, no posters of any potential aspirants were displayed at the conference grounds.

According to the party members, for the NPP tradition to continue, Mr. Alan Kyerematen must be given the mantle to lead the party come 2024.

Dating back to the party’s 2007 delegates conference, Mr. Kyerematen sacrificed for President Akufo-Addo, the honour of being the party’s flagbearer, by not going for a re-run after the presidential primary at Legon.

This sacrifice, according to most NPP members, must be rewarded and the time is now.

“He demonstrated statesmanship in 2007 and has what it takes to restore NPP and Ghana to its lost glory”, a supporter said.

Though Mr. Kyerematen has not openly declared his intentions of contesting for the party’s flagbearership, many have tipped him as the rightful person to succeed President Akufo-Addo.
