Akufo-Addo naming public universities after party forebearers -Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed worry over the several namings of universities by the Akufo-Addo government after people related to his political party.

Mahama would rather Akufo-Addo build new ones instead of renaming existing ones constructed by the NDC government.

He claimed there is no way the NPPs could compare themselves to the NDC because they have not built one public university in the country; it was all built under the governance of the NDC. “Somebody builds a university and you come and name it Dombo University, Tedam University, etc., that is all they know,” he said.

He cautioned the NPP not to compare themselves to the NDC but instead to continue wallowing in their mess and leave his party alone.

In an interview with KSM on Pan-Africa TV on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, the flag bearer of the NDC for the 2024 election pointed out the deliberate propaganda strategy he thinks the ruling party is portraying to make it seem that both parties are similar, aiming to deceive Ghanaians into supporting them in power.

According to him, the NDC started the digital revolution in the country when he was the Minister of Communication, when the post and telecommunications were divided, while they created Ghana Telecom, allowing Spacefon and all the other mobile operators to start operations. “We started laying fibre optics in this country and did the eastern corridor fibre optic,” he said.
