Mr. Abubakar Sedik, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West in the Ashanti Region, has officially cut the sod for the construction of a new 24-Hour Economy Model Market at Mankranso.

He said the modern facility was designed to transform the district into a major commercial hub and aims to stimulate round-the-clock economic growth, create jobs and boost local household incomes.

According to him, the multi-purpose project is being executed by Cosman 21 Trading and Construction Limited under the technical supervision of Eco Planner and Engineering Consult, scheduled for completion within three years.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Mr. Sedik emphasised that the initiative reflects the central government’s commitment to decentralisation and localised economic development.

He disclosed that upon completion, the Mankranso 24-Hour Economy Market will feature 250 lockable and open-air shops designed to resolve long-standing logistical bottlenecks for local farmers and traders.

He noted that the facility will ensure safety, convenience and community welfare. According to him, the complex will integrate several vital auxiliary infrastructure components directly into the facility.

He said the master layout secures emergency response and security through a dedicated police post and an on-site fire station, essential health and community welfare services will be managed through an integrated healthcare clinic, an on-site pharmacy and a Day care centre.

The DCE urged the contracting firm and project consultants to adhere strictly to technical specifications, demanding that construction meet the highest quality standards and be delivered on schedule.

He called on Mankranso residents to cooperate fully with the construction team and take active ownership of the facility once it is commissioned. Mr Sedik expressed gratitude to President John Mahama, the Ashanti Regional Minister, and traditional stakeholders for their collaborative efforts in bringing the development project to fruition.

On his part, Paramount Chief of Mpasaso No.1 and Chairman of the occasion, Nana Tabiri Gyansah III, commended President John Mahama for taking concrete steps toward fulfilling his “24-Hour Economy” promise with the commencement of the market construction project.
