AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine has donated a new Caterpillar Generator to the Obuasi Divisional Police Command to assist in its operations.
Unveiling the generator at a short ceremony at the Divisional Command at Tutuka in Obuasi, the Community Relations Manager of AGA, Mr. Edmund Oduro Agyei, said the cost of the generator plus installation amounted to GHC550,000.

He expressed the hope that the generator would go a long way to reduce operational downturn caused by power outages and enhance community safety and security response capabilities.
Mr. Oduro Agyei pointed out that this is not the first time that the company had come to the aid of the police.
He recalled that in 2019, the company donated two Toyota Pick-ups to the Divisional Command and gave the Ashanti South Regional Police Headquarters a Pick-up and computers, while it built a new Police Station at Bidiem in Obuasi in 2024.
The Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Kwasi Boahene, expressed happiness over the donation and thanked AGA for coming to the aid of the Command at a time that the generator was badly needed.
He used the platform to call on the public to provide the police with information to help in the fight against crime in the Municipality.
