Madam Patricia Pearl Ankrah, the District Chief Executive for Afigya Kwabre South, in the Ashanti Region, has donated office furniture and dual desks to schools in the district to support teaching and learning.
The furniture, comprising dual desks and teachers’ tables and chairs were handed over to the District Education Directorate for distribution to government schools across the district.
The furniture package includes 150 sets of tables and six chairs.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Madam Ankrah said the intervention forms part of the Assembly’s efforts to address challenges, particularly the shortage of furniture, confronting education in the district.
According to the DCE, the intervention will help create a more conducive environment for both teachers and pupils and contribute to improving the quality of education in the district.
She said the Assembly will gradually address the educational challenges confronting Afigya Kwabre South, particularly the furniture deficit.
Madam Ankrah added that after addressing the furniture challenge, the Assembly will focus more on school infrastructure, including the construction of school buildings.
She disclosed that some school building projects undertaken by the Assembly are nearing completion and will soon be commissioned.
The DCE appealed to teachers and school authorities to take proper care of the furniture to ensure it remains in good condition and serves both current and future generations of pupils and teachers.
Receiving the furniture on behalf of the District Education Director, Mr. Francis Kumanim commended the DCE for her continued support for education in the district.
He noted that earlier this year, the DCE provided 400 mono desks to schools in the district and has now provided additional furniture, including 200 dual desks and teachers’ desks.
Mr. Kumanim disclosed that another set of hexagonal desks will also be distributed to government schools across the district.
He assured the DCE that the Education Directorate and beneficiary schools will take good care of the furniture to ensure it remains in good condition and serves future generations.
The provision of the furniture is expected to improve the learning environment and support effective teaching and learning in schools across Afigya Kwabre South.
