The facility, known as the Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe Health Centre, would provide healthcare for the residents of Ateitu and beyond, and contribute to improving the overall health needs of the people of Effutu.

Speaking at the official inauguration of the facility, Alexander Afenyo-Markin disclosed that he was inspired by Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe’s selfless work, particularly in saving women’s lives, hence his decision to name the health centre after the revered medical professional.

He said “Growing up in Winneba, every Winnebarian mentioned Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe’s name, showcasing his dedication to the constituency.”

It was gathered that Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe’s qualities of being compassionate, willingness to go the extra mile, kindness and bedside manners, as well as his commitment to working around the clock to save lives endeared him to the hearts of people and left a lasting impression on the community.

Following these qualities of Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe, one person said “a lot of patients travelled from Winneba to seek healthcare at Swedru, when he was transferred to Swedru. He served the community very well so we are not surprised that this facility has been named after him.”

She explained that the Dr Apetorgbor Dzodzegbe Health Centre would be staffed by competent professionals and, therefore, encouraged residents to utilize the facility.

The construction of the facility, which is also in fulfilment of a pledge Afenyo-Markin made to the people of Ateitu, is well equipped with modern equipment.

Some of the equipment in the facility include; a haematology analyser, delivery beds, 50-litre oxygen cylinders and a microscope among others, with well-furnished consultation rooms. It also has a pharmacy, stable power and water supply and it is also disabled friendly.
