Accident victim supports police to repaint building

A victim of a near fatal accident, which occurred at Odokor Traffic Light last Wednesday night, has donated an undisclosed amount of money to the Accra West Divisional MTTU at Odokor, in the Greater Accra Region.

The Chief Executive Officer of Avcontech Security Masters, Nana Kweku Ofori Atta, who did the donation, indicated that it was meant to assist the police to buy paints to give their building another layer of coat to beautify it, ahead of the Christmas.

Briefing The Chronicle, Nana Ofori Atta stated that he was touched by the state of the police station when he visited there after survival of a near gory accident, which resulted in damages to a number of cars, including his.

“I am sure you will agree with me that security, especially policing, is a shared responsibility, so I decided to do my bit to help improve the physical appearance of the station, as a proud citizen of this great nation”.

Of course, this is not the first time and trust me it is not going to be the last too. I have made several donations to the police in the past and I still have the desire to do more, because without the police, our internal security will be in jeopardy,” he said.

DSP Aboah Offei, who received the donation, said he was completely overwhelmed by the kind heartedness of Nana Ofori Atta and his decision to assist the police to repaint their building, even though his vehicle was badly damaged in the accident.

He promised to make sure that the money would be used for its intended purpose, with further assurance that after the repainting of the place, Nana Kweku Ofori Atta would be invited to witness it.

Nana Ofori Atta’s Toyota Camry, with registration number GX 3023-23, which was involved in the accident, was wrecked beyond repairs, as the engine and its ancillary equipment were completely destroyed.

How the accident happened

Nana Ofori Atta recounted that while he was heading towards Ablekuma from Achimota Forest Roundabout, using the N1 road, an articulator truck with registration number GX 8370- 21 was closely following his car.

“When we got to the Las Palmas traffic light at Lapaz, we both obeyed the traffic regulation and stopped, and then continued when the light turned green,” he stated.

He added that he was still being followed closely by the same vehicle, till they both stopped at Odokor traffic light, but just a few seconds after the traffic changed to green, the articulator truck suddenly lost control and hit a car in the other lane.

“Within a twinkle of an eye, the truck ran into mine, hitting the ‘passenger’ side so dangerously that I completely lost control, as the car was almost running over mine. I don’t know how I survived, but I know God saved me,” he explained.
