Abeiku Jackson won silver in the 50 Metre Men’s Butterfly event in 24.42secs at the 13th African Games. In an interview after winning Ghana’s first gold medal in swimming, Jackson said he is happy such a facility has been provided for the present and future generation.
“It’s a standard Olympic pool. It’s a great pool, I’m happy to have a pool like this in Ghana not only for me but also for the kids that are upcoming for them to also practice and train day in day out, getting the advantages of equipment which will achieve greater dreams for them in the next African Games or the next Olympic Games.”
Top Ghanaian swimmer Abeiku Jackson is happy Ghana is hosting the 13th African Games for the first time. The aquatic centre at the newly built Borteyman Complex is hosting the swimming competition at the 12th African Games taking place in Ghana such as cycling and athletics.
