A/R records 51.6% COVID-19Vaccine coverage -GHS

Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang, Ashanti Regional Director of Ghana Health Services has disclosed that out of the 4,055,214 doses administered in the Ashanti region, a total 1,662,443 persons constituting 51.6% of the total population of the region have been fully vaccinated.

According to him, the number of persons who received at least one dose recorded 2,363,484 which is about 73.4%.

Dr.Tenkorag revealed this at media briefing to update the public on the current situations of the COVID-19 pandemic in the region.

He said  the attitude of hesitancy and Misinformation are the

current challenge against taking the vaccines and urged the public to refrain from such attitudes and patronise the vaccines in their own safety.

He underscored that, the vaccination Prevents one from getting the COVID-19 disease, Prevents the spread of the disease from one person to the other, minimise severe form of the disease and  Saves money and  live.

He said the continuing demand generation strategies were essential to increase coverage and make effective use of multiple and diverse channels to deliver information Working with Partners

He indicated that, Ashanti region is m the second highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

The region, he said, recorded its first confirmed COVID-19 case on March 13, 2020 while COVID-19 vaccination started in March 2021.

He said Kumasi Metro and its environs and Obuasi are the most affected by the pandemic in the region.
