The Circuit Court in Accra has granted bail to a 33-year-old unemployed man, Roland Kweku Abotsi, who has been charged with multiple offences including conspiracy, unlawful entry, stealing and causing unlawful damage.

Roland Abotsi, who appeared before His Honour Jojo Amoah Hagan, pleaded not guilty to all charges.

He was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢200,000 with two sureties, one of whom must justify with landed property.

The case has been adjourned to December 2, 2025, for case management conference (CMC).

According to the prosecution, led by Inspector Nego Dzigbordi, the complainant, Noah Agbovie, a carpenter residing at Wogbobu Avenue, Baatsonaa, left his residence on October 10, 2025 for work after locking his room with two slide tower bolt locks and padlocks.

While away, Roland Abotsi and his alleged accomplice, identified only as Kingsley (currently at large), reportedly broke into the complainant’s room by damaging the locks.

The pair allegedly stole items including a 6kg gas cylinder, a cooking pot, a small saucepan, electrical cables, a metal toolbox with tools, a bubble level, a decoder and an amount of GH¢135,000 in cash.

Inspector Dzigbordi told the court that two witnesses – Kaba Junior and another person – spotted the accused persons carrying two white nylon sacks containing some of the stolen items.

They confronted them, but Kingsley managed to escape while Roland Abotsi was arrested and handed over to the Baatsonaa Divisional Police.

The complainant later identified the retrieved items as his property and confirmed that a large sum of money he kept under his bed was missing.

In his caution statement, Roland Abotsi denied the offences, claiming that Kingsley was an old schoolmate he met in the neighbourhood on the day of the incident and that he did not know where Kingsley lived.

Following police investigations, Abotsi was charged and arraigned before the court, while efforts are ongoing to arrest his accomplice, Kingsley.
