Five more grabbed over Asemkormurder

The Western Regional Police Command has rounded up five more suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of John Abban at Asemkor in the AgonaNkwanta District of the Western Region.This brings the total number of suspects so far arrested to ten (10).

According to a statement signed by Superintendent Olivia E.T. Adiku, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Command in Sekondi, the latest arrests were made at different hideouts across the region.

On Thursday, October 23, 2025 police intelligence led to the arrest of KwabenaAsirifi, 50, at Ampataano, a community near Asemkor.

The following day, Friday, October 24, the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate arrested three others – James Eshun alias Abeiku, 25, Joseph Aidoo alias Moree, 45, and Stephen Nyame alias Joe, 18, at Abuesi in the Shama District.

Earlier, on October 18, one KwabenaMusah, 55, had been arrested at Ahuntumano, near Butre, in the same district.

Superintendent Adiku disclosed that Musah, together with Kennedy Abor, alias Abongo,30, KojoAttahPanyi, 20, Joseph Basses, 30, Abraham Cudjoe, alias Yalle, 39 and EkowPainstil, 45, who were arrested between October 15 and 21, 2025 had already been put before court and remanded into police custody to reappear on October 30, 2025.

It will be recalled that the late John Abban, a brother of the chief of Butre and Asemkor, was attacked and murdered on October 6, 2025 following a chieftaincy dispute in the area.

The suspects reportedly fled the community after the crime.

The Western Regional Police Command has assured the public of its determination to bring all persons involved in the murder to face the law.
