Kloma Gbi congratulates Terkper on appointment as UESD Governing Council Chair

The leadership of KlomaGbi, a Yilo Krobo-based youth advocacy group, has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Mr Seth E. Terkper on his appointment as Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya.

Seth Terkper, an Economic Advisor to President John Dramani Mahama and a native of Yilo Krobo, takes over from Professor Jonathan Narh Ayertey, the inaugural Council Chair, whose tenure recently ended.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) Conference Facility in Accra, was presided over by the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu. Though Seth Terkper was unable to attend the ceremony, he is expected to be officially sworn in at a later date.

The newly constituted 13-member Governing Council includes; the Vice-Chancellor of UESD, Professor Eric Nyarko-Sampson; alongside presidential appointees: Professor Paul Dela Ahiatrogah, Dr. Ahmed Zakaria Abdulahi and Professor Patricia Akweongo.

Other members include Madam Marian Esi Gyekyewa Jackson and Professor Jonathan Nartey Horgarh, representing GTEC and CHASS respectively.

The university’s convocation is represented by Professor Anthony Amoah (professorial), Dr. Sam-Quarcoo Dotse (non-professorial teaching) and Dr. Andrew Kofi Taayeli (non-professorial, non-teaching).

The council also features representatives from the various unions and student bodies: Mr. Louis Yaw Akakposu (Senior Staff), Mr. Eric Nartey (Junior Staff), Ms. Jennifer Teiko Larbi (SRC President), Mr. Ezekiel Teye Nartey Adjorlolo (Graduate Students) and Mr. Sarfo Okyere Kore (Alumni).

In an interview with The Chronicle, the leader of KlomaGbi, Mr. Herman Ablade Adjase-Kojo, expressed the group’s appreciation to the government for appointing a distinguished son of Yilo Krobo to such a key leadership position.

“We take this opportunity to congratulate Hon. Terkper on his appointment and wish him great success in his new role,” he stated.
