The Asante Gold Corporation, through the ChiranoSefwiman Foundation, has awarded full scholarship to 31 needy but brilliant students selected from the company’s catchment communities.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Mr Stephen Asante Yamoah, the General Manager of the company, said the scholarship was a bold initiative that for the past five years, had transformed lives and illuminated paths of opportunity for many deserving young people in the company’s host communities.

He pointed out that the recipients had undergone a rigorous selection process, including an aptitude test to measure their academic readiness and interviews to assess their potential and eligibility.

The process, he stated, was designed to be fair and transparent, ensuring that only the most deserving candidates were selected, where every community was given an equal opportunity to participate.

The General Manager explained, “These young men and women had demonstrated resilience, determination and exceptional academic prowess to be given the scholarship.”

Mr Yamoah said the support provided would empower them to achieve their dreams and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.

“The ChiranoSefwiman Foundation and the General Manager’s Scholarship have so far awarded 107 scholarships, and we have proudly witnessed the first batch of 33 graduates excel in their respective fields such as doctors, engineers, nurses, teachers and other professionals,” he said.

He commended the Board of Governors of the Foundation and the scholarship committee for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to fairness and transparency in the selection process.

Mr Yamoah expressed gratitude to the Community Consultative Committee (CCC) for their continued partnership and leadership in making education a cornerstone of the communities’ development agenda.

He further congratulated the awardees and asked them to be determined and strive for excellence, “and remember always that to whom much is given, much will be required.”

Mr Kwaku Sarfo Duah, Board Chair of the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation, told the beneficiaries that they were selected from over 100 applicants and tasked them to justify the investments made in them.

He stated that Asante Gold Corporation Limited and the Foundation remained steadfast in their commitment to the development of local communities, from providing educational infrastructure to delivering potable drinking water, among others.

Master Michael Olatugi Adjani, from Anglo Community, a level 100 BA Geography and Rural Development at the Kwame University of Science and Technology (KNUST), on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the company for the investments in them and promised to study harder to justify the investments made in them.
