The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced a mandatory health declaration requirement for all travellers arriving in the country, as Ghana steps up public health surveillance amid growing concerns over Ebola cases in Africa.
Effective Thursday, November 12, 2026, all passengers travelling to Ghana will be required to complete and submit a Health Declaration Form before embarking on their journeys.
The directive, announced in a press release issued by the GHS, is aimed at strengthening the country’s public health surveillance and preparedness systems and improving the monitoring of potential health risks.
According to the Service, travellers must complete the online form through its designated portal, https://ehds.ghs.gov.gh/declaration, before departure.
The GHS has urged all prospective travellers to comply with the directive to facilitate a smooth travel process and support national efforts to protect public health.
Airlines, travel agencies and other relevant stakeholders have also been encouraged to inform passengers about the new requirement and ensure they complete the form before travelling to Ghana.
The Director-General of the GHS, Dr Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, who signed the statement, said the measure was intended to safeguard the health and well-being of both residents and visitors.
The announcement comes amid heightened public health concerns over Ebola outbreaks in parts of Africa, prompting countries to strengthen surveillance and preparedness measures against potential cross-border transmission.
The new requirement forms part of Ghana’s efforts to reinforce its health monitoring systems at a time when early detection and prompt reporting of suspected infectious disease cases remain critical to preventing wider transmission.
The GHS has appealed for the cooperation of travellers and other stakeholders in implementing the directive.
