The Ghana Police Service has postponed the full implementation of the automated traffic law enforcement programme, TRAFFITECH-GH, from October 1 to November 1, 2026.
The Police Service said the decision was to allow for further public awareness and education on the programme before its full rollout.
According to the Service, the additional period will enable motorists and other road users to better understand how TRAFFITECH-GH operates, the traffic offences that will be detected and the Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) that will be issued to motorists who breach traffic regulations.
The programme is being implemented by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service as part of efforts to tackle indiscipline on the country’s roads and improve compliance with road traffic laws.
In a statement issued on September 29, 2026, the Police urged motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to use the extra month to familiarise themselves with the system ahead of the November 1 commencement.
The Service said the postponement would provide an opportunity for broader public education on the automated enforcement system and its implications for road users.
It also expressed appreciation to the media for its support throughout the introduction of TRAFFITECH-GH and said it remained committed to working with stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the programme.
The full implementation was originally scheduled for October 1, 2026, but will now commence on November 1, 2026.
