The Ashanti Regional office of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has presented start-up packs to 3,425 beneficiaries across the region upon completion of a six-month skill training in 19 areas. The 19 skill areas include carpentry, masonry, hairdressing, garment making, auto spraying and apparel manufacturing.
Mr. Seth Atanga, the Ashanti Regional Director of the YEA, said at the presentation ceremony that the Chief Executive Officer of the YEA had earlier handed over the skills training items to the region for dispatch to the districts for onward distribution to beneficiaries.
He said the start-up packs would enable the beneficiaries to start their own businesses in their respective skill areas. Mr. Atanga said the beneficiaries applied online through the YEA portal, were shortlisted by the district directors, and underwent technical training provided by the Agency.
He explained that some beneficiaries who applied and were shortlisted but did not complete the training were not validated and, therefore, would not benefit from the distribution.
Mr. Atanga clarified that the YEA’s skills training portal is still open and encouraged interested persons to apply stressing that application and training are free of charge.
