Several passengers are feared dead following a fatal road crash at God’s Love City near Sege on the Accra-Aflao highway in the West Ada District of the Greater Accra Region.

The accident, which occurred early Wednesday morning, involved a Toyota Hiace van with registration number GX-3186-21 and a Ford Transit van with registration number GW-5529-23.

According to reports, the Toyota Hiace, which was travelling from Aflao towards Accra, reportedly collided head-on with the Ford, which was heading in the opposite direction towards Aflao.

Initial reports suggested that about sixteen people might have died in the crash, while a few others reportedly survived. However, the exact number of casualties was not officially confirmed at the time of filing this report.

The West Ada District Command of the Ghana National Fire Service, which responded to the incident, said its personnel arrived at the scene at about 6:30a.m. and worked to rescue victims trapped in the vehicles.

The Fire Service attributed the crash to suspected speeding and dangerous overtaking, although investigations had not yet established the exact cause. The severity of the crash left human remains scattered at the scene.

Injured passengers were rushed to the Sege Polyclinic for medical attention. As of the time of leaving the scene, authorities had not released an official figure on the number of fatalities and injured persons.
