A group of youth organisers and delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from five regions has thrown its support behind Clement Opoku Gyamfi, popularly known as Kwame Poku CiD, in his bid to become the party’s National Youth Organiser.

The supporters, said to be below 40 years, converged in Accra yesterday to pick nomination forms for Mr Gyamfi ahead of the party’s internal elections.

The exercise brought together youth organisers and delegates from the Eastern, Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central and Volta regions, in what supporters described as an indication of growing backing for his candidature.

The organisers said their decision to support Mr Gyamfi was influenced by his experience in grassroots mobilisation and his involvement in organising young people within the party.

A youth organiser from the Greater Accra Region who participated in the exercise said the mobilisation reflected the desire among sections of the party’s youth wing for fresh leadership.

“The energy we are seeing across these regions reflects genuine grassroots enthusiasm for bringing fresh perspectives and vigorous leadership to the youth directorate,” the organiser said.

Mr Gyamfi has been active in the NPP’s youth structures and has been involved in constituency-level mobilisation and party activities over the years.

His supporters believe his experience working with young party members across different constituencies could strengthen his bid for the national position.

The picking of the nomination forms marks an early step in Mr Gyamfi’s campaign as he seeks to secure the support of delegates ahead of the NPP’s internal electoral process.

His campaign is expected to intensify its engagement with delegates and youth organisers in other regions in the coming weeks.

The formal submission of nomination forms and subsequent election will be conducted in accordance with the timetable and guidelines to be announced by the NPP.

While the mobilisation in the five regions provides an indication of support for Mr Gyamfi, the scale of his backing within the wider NPP youth structure will ultimately be determined by the party’s electoral process.
