Communications strategist and New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Dennis Miracles Aboagye (DMA), has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Communications Director, promising to build a more proactive communications machinery capable of defending the party’s record and reconnecting with Ghanaians.

Mr. Aboagye, who served as Director of Communications for the 2024 presidential campaign of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, said his decision to contest stems from what he described as a critical moment in the party’s history that demands bold and strategic leadership.

Announcing his candidature, he pledged to lead a resilient, innovative and forward-looking communications team that would effectively project the NPP’s achievements while strengthening public confidence in the party.

“Today, I offer myself to serve. Our message is strong. Our record is defensible. What we need now is a communications team that does not flinch or surrender.”

According to him, political success depends largely on winning the confidence of the electorate, making effective communication an indispensable tool for the party’s efforts to regain political power.

He argued that the NPP must move beyond responding to narratives created by its political opponents and instead take the lead in shaping national conversations.

“We cannot allow the opposition or intimidation to define who we are. We must define ourselves, tell our own story with confidence and ensure Ghanaians hear the truth about our values, our record and our vision for the future,” he stated.

Mr. Aboagye also appealed to party members across the country to unite behind a renewed communications strategy anchored on discipline, innovation, strategic engagement and grassroots mobilisation.

“As we look ahead, let us stand shoulder to shoulder, strengthen our resolve, command the narrative and work tirelessly to bring the New Patriotic Party back to power,” he urged.

Campaigning on the theme “Built to Lead. Ready to Win,” Mr. Aboagye said he intends to establish a communications structure that is proactive, responsive, digitally driven and firmly rooted at the grassroots.

He said his vision also includes equipping party communicators with the necessary skills and tools to engage effectively with the Ghanaian electorate.

His campaign, which is being promoted under the hashtag #CommandTheNarrative, seeks to inspire a renewed sense of purpose within the NPP’s communications network while positioning the party to communicate its message with greater clarity, consistency and conviction ahead of the next general election.

Meanwhile, as The Chronicle went to press, information reaching the paper indicated that New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications strategist, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, had been taken into custody by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

Following the development, the NPP issued a statement demanding his immediate release.

In the statement, titled “RELEASE Dennis Miracles Aboagye NOW,” the party alleged that officers of EOCO, assisted by personnel of the Ghana Immigration Service, arrested Mr. Aboagye at the airport before taking him into custody.

The NPP further claimed that Mr. Aboagye’s lawyers had been denied access to him, that his whereabouts had not been disclosed and that no formal charges had been preferred against him.

Describing the arrest as politically motivated, the party alleged that the action formed part of a broader pattern of intimidation against members of the opposition.

“This is not law enforcement; it is intimidation,” the statement said, adding that Mr. Aboagye had been a vocal critic of the government and had only hours earlier announced his intention to contest for the position of the party’s National Communications Director.

The NPP called on EOCO to either release Mr. Aboagye immediately or arraign him before a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance with the 1992 Constitution.

It also demanded that he be granted immediate and unrestricted access to his lawyers and family, arguing that Article 14(2) of the Constitution guarantees the rights of persons in custody.

The party further urged the government to end what it described as politically motivated invitations, arrests and detentions targeting members of the NPP.
