Ato Leads Mahama’s Ministerial Rankings –Big Events Ghana

Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has been adjudged the Overall Best Minister of the Year 2025–2026 at the 6th Ghana Minister of the Year Awards held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel Convention Centre in Accra.

Dr. Forson also received the Best Performing Minister of the Year award in recognition of his leadership at the Ministry of Finance.

The annual awards ceremony brought together ministers of state, regional ministers, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), chief executive officers of public institutions and other distinguished guests to celebrate excellence, innovation and outstanding performance in public service.

The event, regarded as one of Ghana’s leading platforms for recognising achievement in governance, was attended by the Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, who served as Special Guest of Honour.

Several ministers were honoured for their contributions to national development. Among the recipients were Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Haruna Iddrisu, Eric Opoku, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, who were recognised for exemplary leadership in their respective ministries.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also received the Best Young Minister of the Year award, while Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor was named Best Innovation Minister of the Year. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey was honoured as Best Female Minister of the Year, and Eric Opoku was recognised as Best Male Minister of the Year.

In the deputy minister category, Dorcas Affo-Toffey and Dr. Justice Srem-Sai emerged as Best Deputy Ministers of the Year. Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo was adjudged Best Regional Minister of the Year.

The Ministry of Energy received the Best Government Ministry of the Year award, while Michael Kpakpo Allotey was named Best Metropolitan Chief Executive of the Year.

The awards also recognised parliamentary and institutional leadership. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor received the Distinguished Parliamentary Service Award, while Kwame Obeng Asare, popularly known as A Plus, was named Most Impactful New Member of Parliament.

Several heads of public institutions were honoured as Best Performing CEOs of the Year, including Prof. George Agyei, Christopher Boadi-Mensah, Sylvester Mensah, Prof. Ransford Gyampo, Ruth Dela Seddoh, Julius Neequaye Kotey and Simon Madjie.

Organisers said the awards seek to promote accountability, excellence and innovation in public service while encouraging public officials to deliver results that improve the lives of citizens.

The Ghana Minister of the Year Awards is organised annually by Big Events Ghana, led by its Founder and Executive Director, Dr. Prince Markey.
