Cape Coast Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs have moved to the summit of Zone Two league table, following an impressive 2-0 over visiting Obuasi Ashanti Gold 04 yesterday.
After highly competitive first half ended in stalemate, the home side intensified their search for an opener with an improved performance in the early stages of the second half.
Their brilliant efforts paid off when enterprising Emmanuel Osei excellently converted from the spot in the 51st minute to give the Crabs the much needed opener, which electrified the atmosphere in the stadium.
As Dwarfs pushed for a cushioning goal Ashgold fought back fiercely to restore parity, a situation that created a tense atmosphere on the pitch.
However, the Abontoa Abontoa boys had their relentless efforts to secure a second goal paid off, as Isaac Buckman scored in the 85th minute to register his name on the score sheet to give Dwarfs a comfortable lead.
Ashgold 04 who occupied the top of the table with 34 points, prior to the top liner, has been pushed to the second position on the log following the defeat.
The Crabs moved to the top with 35 points after match day 17 with just a point ahead of Ashgold 04.
Financial motivation
Ahead of the game, which was codenamed in Cape Coast as “Ɔsor kɔ da”, to wit ‘ascension day’, the Member member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, Mr Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, made a donation of GH₵100,000 to club.
The donation from the MP, who is also the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, was geared towards support the Crabs in their quest to qualify for the elite division.

The win, which perfectly set Dwarfs quest for premiership qualification, was greeted with huge excitement in the ancient capital as supporters and many Cape Coasters celebrated the win in a style.
