84 Parcels Of ‘Wee’ In Cop’s Car Boot; Attempt to escape arrest results in serious accident

A Policeman who was conveying eighty-four (84) parcels of compressed narcotics (indian hemp) in his private car was, on Sunday, involved in an accident on the Kpeve Mountains in the Volta Region.

The 36-year old Non Commissioned Officer (NCO), Number 45638 G/Sgt Lotsu Agbeko, stationed at the Formed Police Unit (FPU), fractured his hand and is currently responding to treatment at the Peki Government Hospital under armed guard.

Information reaching The Chronicle has it that following a tip-off that a particular vehicle was carrying narcotics, personnel on duty at Have Barrier went on the alert.

On Sunday June 11, 2022, at about 12:30 hours, Sgt Lotsu Agbeko, driving a Toyota Corolla with registration GC 1069-09, approached the Have Barrier.

He reportedly failed to stop when ordered to do so, compelling the personnel to pursue him.

On reaching a section of the Kpeve Mountain road, the vehicle the suspect was driving was involved in an accident, resulting in him sustaining injuries.

The parcels of compressed narcotics found in the boot of the car were retrieved, after which the suspect was rushed to the Peki Government Hospital to receive treatment.
