41 persons with disabilities in the Sunyani West Municipality in the Bono region have received support worth GHc84,500.00 from the Assembly to set them up to be economically sound.
The support was in fulfilment of the core functions of the utilization of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) for PWDs. The areas of support were income generation, education and Medical /Assertive support.
The Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Mr. Evans Kusi Boadum at a short ceremony to disburse the items to the beneficiaries said the responsibility of the government to support PWDs would continue until each one of the PWDs was empowered in one way or the other.
He asked the beneficiaries to use the items received for its intended purposes so that they would be empowered economically and become financially independent.
The head of Social Welfare Community Development, Madam Matilda Asante disclosed that the beneficiaries made the request for the items they have been supplied with.
She said monitoring will continue as her work demands to make sure the items received will be used for the purposes intended for so that government intentions for supporting them would be materialized.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government and pledged to put the items into good use.
