The 10th edition of the Ghana Energy Awards (GEA) has been launched with a call on stakeholders in the energy sector to consolidate the gains made over the past decade.
Stakeholders have also been called upon to work to position the energy industry for a more sustainable and resilient future.
The landmark 2026 edition, scheduled to take place in November, is being held under the theme “Consolidating Ghana’s Energy Sector Gains: A Decade of Resilience, A Future of Sustainable Energy”.

According to the organisers, Ghana Energy Media, the anniversary edition comes at a significant point in the development of Ghana’s energy sector, considering the progress made.
The sector, however, has also had to navigate market volatility, infrastructure constraints, financing gaps and global disruptions, challenges which have tested the resilience and adaptability of industry players.
The 2026 awards therefore seek not only to celebrate achievements, but also to reflect on the resilience demonstrated by the sector and encourage continued innovation, sustainability and institutional strength.
CREDIBILITY
In his welcome address, at the launch, the Event Director of the Ghana Energy Awards, Ing. Henry Teinor, indicated that credibility and integrity remained central to the awards.
According to him, the organisers had strengthened the assessment process through collaboration with industry experts, technical professionals, independent validators and institutions.
He further informed stakeholders about the introduction of an integrated awards management system designed to support the application, validation, scoring and documentation processes.
He stated that the system aims to enhance the transparency, openness, and efficiency of the awards process.
Ing. Henry Teinor mentioned the World Energy Council, Ghana, and professional institutions such as Forvis Mazars and the Casely Brooke Law Firm as some of the bodies involved in the process to sustain its integrity and credibility.
He called institutions and individuals to take part in the 2026 awards, the 10th anniversary, to reflect on the gains made and prepare the sector for the next decade.
Ghana’s Ambassador to Hungary, with concurrent accreditation to Slovakia, Dr Kwame Ampofo, who is a member of the awarding panel, commended the organisers of the awards for sustaining it for a decade.
Mr Kwame Jantuah, Chairman of the Ghana Energy Awards awarding panel, outlined the modalities of the awards while encouraging stakeholders in the value chain to join to celebrate all those who have contributed to the growth of the sector.
Another member of the awarding panel, Rev. Lawrence Tetteh, said the 10th anniversary provided an opportunity to recognise people who contribute to Ghana’s development through the energy sector.
