The construction of a new maternity block at the Effiduase Government Hospital by the Noble Ladies Association and community members has received a major boost.
The Yaa Asantewaa Rural Bank PLC, headquartered at Ejisu, has donated 20 bags of Cement to support the project.
The project, when completed, would help reduce pressure and ease congestion on the existing maternity ward built 70 years ago.
The acting Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Dr. Stephen Sarfo Kantanka, on behalf of the Board and management, presented the bags of cement to the Project Officer of the Noble Ladies Association.
He said the bank deemed it appropriate to support the Association to execute a noble and laudable cause to provide social security for the wellbeing of the citizenry.
He commended Rev. Dr. Mrs. Grace Amoagyei, a Director of the Bank and member of the Noble Ladies Association, who drew the banks attention to the need to extend a helping hand to the Association and the health facility.
The Administrator of Effiduase Government Hospital, Mr. Benjamin Kuupil, who received the cement donation on Tuesday, on behalf of Dr. David Antwiagyei, the Medical Superintendent, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Bank for supporting the project towards procreation and the welfare of women and expectant mothers.
Like the legendary Oliver Twist, the Administrator asked for more support from churches, philanthropists, financial institutions, as well as organisations and individuals, to support the expansion programme of the hospital.
Rev. Dr. Okatakyie Afrifa, the Project Officer, on behalf of the community members, Noble Ladies Association and the hospital, thanked the Yaa Asantewaa Rural Bank for contributing to the welfare of society.
