Celebrated gospel musician, Mrs. Amy Amber Newman has disclosed that veteran Artistes are hungry because they did not make enough money from their music.
In an interview on Takoradi based Beach FM which was monitored by The Chronicle, the ‘Ateaseafo’ hitmaker said during the 1990s when her contemporaries dominated the music industry with their songs, there were not advanced music platforms to make enough income.
Unlike recent times where there are multiple sources of income for Artistes, Mrs. Newman says the veteran Artistes are very hungry since they did not make any meaningful money from their ministry and trade.
She also spoke about the recent trends where new artistes use the works of veteran Artistes in the name of cover ups to generate income of which there is no copyright.
“It pains a lot because people think music is a lazy man’s work. You put in a lot of hard work, time, prayer, and fasting and after releasing the song, somebody will take the song and make a cover on their platforms which will generate them income” Mrs. Amy Neman stated.
Mrs. Newman is threatening legal action against those who have used her songs as cover songs without her consent to contact her for amicable settlement. She said; “This time I’m not going to entertain it.
If you’ve used my craft, come and see me before I sue for copyright. During our time of production, social media wasn’t developed as it is now, so we didn’t make a lot from our works.”
Mrs. Amy Newman is currently promoting her latest single, ‘I’m redeemed,’ her first song release in 2022. “For the past four years, I have battled with some deep things.
I have not been myself since 2019. But whatever that I went through, I have been redeemed by God so this song is my story that I have put in a song.
A lot of people I have spoken to have also shared similar stories so God gave me this song to liberate people in similar situation” Mrs. Amy Newman revealed inspiration behind the song.
