West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) recorded their first victory of the Ghana Premier League season, beating Great Olympics 1-0 at the Sogakope Park on Saturday.
Striker Justus Torsutsey scored the only goal of the game with a 95th minute penalty to hand the Academy boys maximum points in a keenly contested encounter.
The game started in a fierce manner with Great Olympics pressing the home side high up the pitch for most of the opening half but could not create enough opportunities to score.
The Dade boys, on a number of occasions had advantages to score but the home side stood resolute in defence and kept the visitors abay.
The first half of the game ended in a scoreless draw with Olympics having the Lions share of possession.
In the second half, WAFA came out strong and purposeful as they tried to capitalize on their home turf advantage. WAFA gradually gained their momentum and mounted intense pressure on the visitors.
The insistent pressure finally paid off when substitute Marvin Owusu was fouled in the 18-yard box by Philip Nii Sackey on the 94th minute.
WAFA were awarded a penalty which striker Justus Torsutsey dispatched expertly to hand them a hard-fought 1-0 victory.
