PSG, Bayern Munich clash in top of the pick fixtures

The Champions League‘s top two are set to clash tonight when holders Paris Saint-Germain welcome imperious Bayern Munich to the Parc des Princes.

Both Les Parisiens and the Bavarians come into this blockbuster with perfect records in the competition so far, and both will be determined to show their strength on Europe’s biggest stage.

Luis Enrique’s PSG have endured something of an injury crisis this season, losing the likes of Desire DoueKhvicha KvaratskheliaOusmane Dembele and Vitinha to a variety of issues over the early part of the campaign.

However, Les Parisiens have come through the worst of it largely unscathed, and after the majority of their stars were back in action in October, they remain first in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League at the start of November.

Meanwhile, Vincent Kompany‘s Bayern have been in flawless form in 2025-26, winning every single match across all competitions so far.

At the heart of the Bavarians’ impressive 15-game victory streak has been their red-hot attacking trio of Michael OliseHarry Kane and Luis Diaz, which has helped the German giants bag 54 goals already this season.

As for Bayern, left-back Alphonso Davies is stepping up his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury, and both he and centre-half Hiroki Ito are anticipated to return to action next month.

Kompany opted to avoid starting all three of Harry Kane, Luis Diaz and Michael Olise at the weekend, and the fact that they still won – even without Jamal Musiala, who is working his way back from a broken leg – speaks to the strength of the Bavarians’ squad.

On Tuesday, Kane, Diaz and Olise should be refreshed and ready to pose a serious threat to Les Parisiens.

Liverpool, Real Madrid cross paths again at Anfield

Almost an inevitability in this day and age of the Champions LeagueLiverpool and Real Madrid cross paths again, this time at Anfield.

Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid

The Reds stopped the domestic rut in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, while ex-Liverpool lynchpin Xabi Alonso has turned Los Blancos into a winning machine since taking the reins from Carlo Ancelotti.

After arguably “sacking off” the EFL Cup by sending out the kids and the reserves against Crystal Palace, Arne Slot had no other option but to mastermind a victory over Aston Villa in Saturday’s Premier League clash.

The under-fire Dutchman could have become the first Liverpool boss to oversee five consecutive defeats in the Premier League, but he belatedly got the response he was looking for, as Mohamed Salah’s 250th Reds goal preceded a deflected second from Ryan Gravenberch on Merseyside.

Thirteen of Real Madrid’s 14 games in all competitions this season have now ended in triumph – the one aberration being their bewildering 5-2 derby loss to Atletico – although they are the lowest-ranked of the five Champions League teams with nine points from their first three games.

Alonso’s ride at Real Madrid has not been smooth-sailing so far; from the Vinicius Junior Clasico meltdown to reports of unhappy senior players has overseen a significant culture change in the Spanish capital.

However, that shake-up has translated to success after success on the pitch, and as it is too early to tell whether Liverpool’s win over Villa is a sign of a sustained improvement, a more consistent Blancos side have our vote to ruin the Reds’ parade once again.

Napoli, Frankfurt to get their campaigns back on track

Both on the end of four-goal defeats last time out, Napoli and Eintracht Frankfurt will look to get their Champions League campaigns back on track when they meet at Stadio Maradona on Tuesday.

Scott McTominay, Napoli

Goals should be guaranteed, as all of Frankfurt’s three games so far have finished 5-1, while only one of Die Adler’s last 68 European matches have finished scoreless.

Napoli have never gone past the last eight in UEFA’s top competition, while head coach Antonio Conte has a modest personal record, so Serie A‘s Scudetto holders are desperate to go deep this season.

However, not much has gone to plan so far: having lost their captain to an early red card in a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City, they then got off the mark by edging out Sporting Lisbon in Naples.

Despite taking the lead on matchday three, the Italian champions went down to 10 men again, and even though talisman Scott McTominay scored twice they were hammered 6-2 by PSV Eindhoven.

Since that chastening setback, Conte’s men have recovered somewhat, reclaiming top spot in Italy by beating title rivals Inter Milan before ekeing past lowly Lecce at Via del Mare.

While Napoli are notoriously tough to beat on home turf, Frankfurt have won just one of their last six games and have a very dubious defence.

So, after steadying the ship in recent weeks, the hosts can claim three points to put their Champions League challenge back on track.

Tottenham host Danish titans Copenhagen

Thomas Frank takes on his own on Tuesday evening, as Tottenham Hotspur host Danish titans Copenhagen in the league phase of the Champions League.

Tottenham have navigated their first three games of the competition without suffering defeat, while their Scandinavian foes are still searching for their first victory.

Mohammed Kudus, Tottenham

Indeed, Tottenham have strung together a 21-game unbeaten run in continental matches at home – winning 17 of them – but Frank’s men were met with a cacophony of boos rather than celebratory cheers the last time they took to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium turf.

Vicario’s heroics could not spare Spurs from a deserved 1-0 London derby defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, when the Lilywhites were booed off the pitch after registering their lowest-ever Expected Goals total on record in a Premier League match.

Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence ignoring Frank’s pleas to clap the fans at full time only added to the toxicity at Tottenham, who have now lost back-to-back games after their EFL Cup elimination to Newcastle United and have just three wins under their belt from their last 10 matches.

As Spurs bid to recover from back-to-back defeats in all competitions, Copenhagen are out to right the wrongs of successive Champions League losses.
