Thirty-two Chartered Accountants, including the Minister for National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, have donated an amount of GH¢160,000 to support the Heal Komfo Anokye Project, an initiative which is being spearheaded by His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to renovate the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
Most of the Chartered Accountantshail from both the Ashanti and Ahafo regions, whilst others also received their training in the Ashanti region.
Led by Dr. Robert Donaldy, the gesture aims to support the call by Otumfuoto renovate the health facility, which serves Ghana and beyond.
Addressing the media after presenting the cheque and also touring the A block (A4 and A5) of KATH, which are being renovated, Dr.Donaldy said their presentation is aimed at heeding to the call by Asantehene to save KATH, which is the largest referral health centre in Ghana.
Sharing the group’s observation about what they have witnessed about the Heal Komfo Anokye Project, Donaldy disclosed that the facility had been upgraded into a modern one.
Dr Robert Donaldy subsequently urged each and every one to come and support, irrespective of how much they have.
On his part, Mr. Sammy Adu Boakye, the Chairman of the Heal Komfo Anokye Project, expressed appreciation to the thirty-two Chartered Accountantsfor supporting the Heal Komfo Anokye Project.
“We grateful for this gesture and we are optimistic that they will go out as ambassadors and tell people about what they have seen and be witnesses for this project.
“Everyone has to come on board-we all have to demonstrate our sense of patriotism and self-help so that we can move our nation forward.
“To those who are yet to come, I encourage you all to show that level of support that we all need as a country so that we can build mother Ghana together.”
Asked about how modernised the facility is going to be upon completion, Adu Boakye explained that for the first time,each bed at the hospital is going to have an oxygen pod.
Additionally, it would be operated by a fully air conditioned system,centralised for the entire floor.
The chairman of Heal Komfo Anokye Project further disclosed to the media that there is an extraction system that would take away the bad or foul smell and bring in fresh air,adding that lavatory facilities have been improved from four to twelve.
