The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, has held a high-level strategic meeting with Mr. António Caramelo Raposo, General Manager of Usibras Ghana Limited, one of the country’s leading cashew processing companies.
The engagement comes in the wake of reports that Usibras Ghana is considering relocating its operations to Côte d’Ivoire, due to ongoing industry challenges.

During the meeting, Mr. Raposo outlined key issues confronting the company and expressed appreciation for TCDA recent visit to the Usibras facility, which provided the Authority with valuable insights into the company’s operations and processing capacity.
Dr. Okrah, acknowledging the strategic importance of Usibras Ghana within the national cashew value chain, assured the company of TCDA’s continued commitment to enhancing the regulatory environment.

He emphasised the Authority’s proactive initiatives, including the Tree Crops Diversification Project, which aims to supply farmers with high-quality seedlings to boost plantation development, a move expected to directly benefit processors like Usibras.
The CEO also commended Usibras Ghana for its openness and willingness to engage in constructive dialogue, reaffirming TCDA’s dedication to creating a conducive environment for tree crop development in Ghana.

Mr. Raposo expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting, describing it as a positive step towards resolving industry bottlenecks and strengthening collaboration between government agencies and private sector players.
