The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency, George Mireku Duker, has inspected progress of work on the Efuanta to Bogoso junction road, which is currently under construction.
Work started on the 7-kilometer stretch last August and is expected to be completed in March 2024. It is believed that when work is finally completed it would help ease traffic on the once traffic laden road.
The road, which hitherto was a single lane, is now being dualised through the effort of the Legislator of the area.
Inspecting progress of work, MP Duker commended the Contractor, Gabriel Couto, for the good work done since the construction begun.
According to the MP, the road quality has been superb, as was expected from contractors.
“We are grateful for the road quality. This is what we expect from a contractor and others must emulate same”.
According to MP Duker, he and the entire Tarkwa community trust in the ability and capability of the contractor to do a good work.
“We know you will deliver an excellent job for the god and safety of the people of Tarkwa,” he said.
He added that government, including himself as a Legislator, has come under strong criticism over the poor state of the stretch. He believed that the construction would be evidence of government’s strong appetite to invest in infrastructural development.
Site Engineer, Samuel Danso, told newsmen that the road would have four lanes. Currently, he said 6-kilometers of the binder has been done, leaving only 1-kilometer stretch from University of Mines to the Pentecost Church.
He said as a result the traffic challenge has improved. Initially, he said pedestrians and vehicles could remain in traffic for fifteen minutes but the situation has improved and pedestrians have come to understand why they would have to endure for work to progress on the stretch.
