Takoradi MP equips 700 youth with starts-up tools

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Takoradi, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah has equipped the youth in his area by supporting them with Startup tools for them to be economically viable.

A total of 700 youth have benefitted after undergoing training in bakery, welding, sewing, drilling, mechanics, welding and fabrication among others.
They were supported with bakery equipment, hair dryers, sewing machines, welding machine and accessories, drilling machines among others.

The project, dubbed “Kobby Youth Investment Initiative” is aimed at empowering the youth by providing them with productive assets to generate income, wealth and prosperity.
With a vision to transform Takoradi into a vibrant Startup city, the objective of the project is to enable young people create their own jobs and prosperity and ultimately benefiting themselves and the entire community.

Speaking at the presentation of the Startup tools, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah, who is also the Western Regional Minister indicated that “The goal is to nurture 6,000 entrepreneurs across every household in Takoradi through a cascading effect involving beneficiaries”.

Mr. Darko-Mensah assured that “Takoradi Prosperity Scheme is here to stay to foster local economic development and progressive business mindset.”

Joana Ocran, a beneficiary, expressed appreciation to the MP for the start-up tools. “I completed training in hair dressing over a year ago. This Startup tools will enable me start my business in the house and also train others in my area to acquire some skills”, she added.
