The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) marked a significant milestone with the opening of its new office in Accra.
The ceremony was a momentous occasion, not only to unveil the modern facility but also to pay tribute to the patrons and past presidents for their visionary leadership and commitment to sports journalism and the pioneering efforts paving the way for SWAG’s current achievements.
As guests gathered, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and nostalgia. The event highlight was the recognition of SWAG’s patrons, including H.E Amarkai Amarteifio, a former diplomat and chief patron of SWAG, Mr. Ebo Quansah, General Manager of The Chronicle and former SWAG President, Hon. Joe Aggrey, a renowned sports journalist, former SWAG President for 13yrs and former deputy Sports Minister, and Mr. Cudjoe Fianoo, Ghalca chairman.
In a heartfelt statement, SWAG General Secretary Charles Osei Asibey, expressed gratitude to the patrons for their unwavering support and guidance.
“Your contributions have been instrumental in our growth and success. We are forever grateful for your dedication to SWAG and Ghanaian sports,” he said.
The honorees were decorated with customized gold medals, symbolizing the organization’s appreciation for their tireless efforts.
