The Obuasi branch of the Social Security and Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has embarked on a comprehensive mobile service to engage staff of AngloGold Ashanti under a public outreach and education programme.
At the Obuasi outreach programme, AngloGold Ashanti Mines and its subsidiaries, AGA Health Foundation and AGA Malaria Control, received exceptional customer service.
Approximately 1,750 SSNIT Scheme contributors were signed up to take part in the enriching activity.
The SSNIT had, by the programme l, demonstrated its commitment to advancing social insurance and financial security in the communities it served, thus cementing the cooperative relationship between AngloGold Ashanti Limited and SSNIT, which point to both parties’ shared dedication to educating and empowering beneficiaries.
The collaboration also serves as more evidence of SSNIT’s unwavering commitment to improving financial literacy, and offering vital protection to individuals and their families.
The workers were educated on the SSNIT Scheme and benefits from a variety of AngloGold Mines units, including the Fixed Plant Unit, Sustainability Unit, Safety Unit, Capital Project, Shaft Unit, and Administration.
Madam Monica Awuku, Obuasi branch Manager, explained that, the outreach programme was planned by a committed group of members, including several branch Supervisors, with the aim to update members data, provide statement information, and promote public education.
Together with the Acting Principal Member and Client Officer of the Branch, Suzie Adomako, Madam Monica Awuku, informed the participants about Self Employed Enrollment Drive-SEED, stressing the value of persuading close family members to become members of the SSNIT family.
Mr. Richard Blankson, AngloGold Ashanti Industrial Relations Superintendent, expressed the appreciation of the company and its sub-contractors for the excellent customer service provided throughout the programme.
Mr. Blankson noted that participants having been equipped with the knowledge would extend the good message to their friends and family with regard to the three-tier pension plan.
He commended the move to include Underground Miners, who frequently missed out on the educational activities because of their shifts.
