The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sissala West Constituency in the Upper West Region, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, has set up a blood bank refrigerator for the Gwollu District Hospital to be used for the preservation of blood, and donated beds to the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compounds.
According to him, it was the first time the District Hospital was getting a blood refrigerator, which was in response to an appeal made by the management of the hospital over a problem it have been facing for a longtime.
Also, the communities which benefited from the beds donations included Dasimah, Duwie, and Fialmuah in the Sissala West District.
The MP for the area said the donation of the beds was to ensure that pregnant women who visit the CHPS Compounds deliver their babies safely.
“The communities of Dasimah, Duwie and Fialmuah in our beloved Sissala West District, who were without safe delivery beds in the CHPS Compounds, all have one now; thanks to our commitment to ensure improved maternity care.
“I’m glad to have made this timely intervention. Our pregnant women can now deliver their babies with less risk,” the Sissala West MP said, after the donation.
He also donated wheelchairs, test tubes and other laboratory equipment, which were highly needed in the hospital.
The Sissala West MP said the donation was part of his aim to make the constituency better for everyone.
