The Western Regional Director of Centre for National Culture (CNC), Rev Ebo Kesse has revealed that the World Bank is behind the new project that is under construction close to the 20-year-old amphitheatre at Fijai in Takoradi.
In an interview on Skyy Power FM’s ‘OC Showbiz Review,’ Rev. Kesse clarified confusion in local media about the new project undertaken close to the facility he supervises.
Explaining the project, Rev. Kesse said; “The World Bank is building state-of-the-art amphitheatres for five regions in Ghana and Western Region happens to be one of the five regions so I can say we are fortunate to be considered out of the 16 regions in Ghana.”
According to Rev. Kesse, the World Bank sponsored project will complement the old facility since many events can now be held concurrently. “Even though the details of the new amphitheatre are not readily available, I know the capacity is around 1,000.
The other one is 3,000 capacity depending on the arrangement of chairs but that doesn’t mean it is not an improvement; when completed, we can have a lot of events at the same time which is currently so” Rev. Kesse added.
“The Regional Minister wants the project to get to certain level before a commissioning is done that is why it has not be publicised loudly. When it gets to the level where there can be publicity done, a commissioning will be done” Rev. Kesse explained why nothing about the project has been told the media since.
