The Cape Coast Restaurant in Manchester has become the first reference point for the promotion of the Sekondi Takoradi Christmas City project to be held in the United Kingdom.
Management of the esteemed African and Caribbean restaurant has also agreed to host discussions for the planning of the UK edition of one of the highlights of the Sekondi Takoradi Project, the Ankos parade.
Project lead, Charles Cobbina, together with a founding member, Emmanuel Ohene Gyan, on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 presented a 2023 sample uniform to the management of Cape Coast Restaurant.
Emmanuel Ohene Gyan said: “The uniform is to be pasted behind the serving counter of the restaurant. The idea is to draw people’s attention to it, ask questions and generate a buzz around the Ankos Parade. In doing so, we hope to promote Sekondi-Takoradi and its uniqueness.”
Charles Cobbina explained: “We have briefed management on the Ankos Parade for them to be able to offer explanations to inquiries. But on big occasions, Ohene Gyan will be here to do more of the explaining.”
Manager of Cape Coast Restaurant Mustapha Junior was elated about the idea of a UK edition of the Ankos Parade.
He said: “It will be a great opportunity to showcase our rich culture to the rest of the world particularly our Caribbean brothers as they will see that we have so much in common.”
“For us here at Cape Coast Restaurant, we are happy that we will be contributing to this phenomenal history.”
President of the Ghana Union in Manchester Dr. Alex Nana Mensah was full of praise for the organisers of the Sekondi Takoradi Christmas City Project for “striving to bring the Ankos and Sekondi Takoradi onto the global stage.”
He added: “The prospects are huge as we will have an event that will take us closer to home, our children here will learn about their heritage and it could also drive tourism to Ghana.”
