The Sefwi Wiawso Divison of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has donated Covid-19 items to the Western North Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) for onward distribution to ten deprived schools in the region.
The items included 20 Veronica buckets with stands, 20 pieces of plastic bowls, 20 gallons of liquid soaps, and 10 packets of tissue papers.
Paul Atta-Peters, Manager of the Sefwi Wiawso branch of the Ghana Revenue Authority, who made the presentation, said that it was part of their corporate social responsibility to assist deprived schools in the area in the fight against the pandemic.
He said that the COVID-19 pandemic was still prevalent in the Ghanaian society, and that the prescribed protocols must still be observed religiously in order to reduce its impact.
From statistics, he said, cases of the Covid-19 infection continued to rise, and that there was the need to contain it with the safety protocols.
Mr. Atta-Peters, therefore, advised on the need for the safety protocols to be strictly adhered to for people to stay healthy, and to go about their productive activities without any fear.
He advised heads of the deprived schools, who would receive the items to make sure they were used for the purposes they were donated.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Western North Regional Minister, the Chief Director of the Western North Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. Sampson Amoako Koranteng, thanked the GRA for the support to the deprived schools, adding that the government alone could not shoulder the responsibility of providing COVID-19 safety items, and that corporate bodies also owed it a duty to join the fight by way of donations, as the GRA had done.
