Dansoman Circuit Court, presided over by Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa Abdul Baasit, has remanded a 30-year-old scrap dealer, John Anaman, to police custody following charges of unlawfully being on premises and stealing. Anaman, who pleaded not guilty, is expected to make his second court appearance on January 30, 2025.

Prosecuting the case, Chief Inspector K. Aboagye outlined the facts, stating that the complainant, Mavis Bonnah Boadi, is the Credit Control Manager of Auto Plaza Ltd at Atico Junction, while the accused resides in Circle.

According to the prosecution, approximately two years ago, Boadi purchased a warehouse near Royal House Chapel, at the Obetsebi Lamptey roundabout, for a future project.

However, the property has been a target of thefts, with several building materials stolen over time.

On January 15, 2025, at about 5:00 p.m., a witness noticed Anaman on the premises removing ten aluminum roof railings. When confronted, Anaman claimed he was searching for scrap materials. He was subsequently arrested and handed over to the police.

During investigations, Anaman admitted to being on the premises and stealing the items in his cautioned statement.

He was later charged with the offenses and brought before the court. The court has remanded the accused to police custody to allow further investigations.

The case will continue on January 30, 2025.
