Sarkodie’s much-anticipated Rapperholic: The Homecoming Edition in Kumasi on Saturday, September 27, 2025, nearly lost its spark after heavy rains disrupted the night.

According to the celebrated rapper, it was the intervention of multiple award-winning Artiste, Kofi Kinaata, that saved the atmosphere from going flat.

Speaking in a post-event interview on Kesben FM in Kumasi, Sarkodie candidly acknowledged the challenges of staging the show at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

“The rain came and things got tough, the plant that was a backup power for the event went off for close to an hour. We were just praying and let me take this opportunity to thank Kofi Kinaata who came with the energy to revive the place,” Sarkodie revealed.

The concert, which marked Rapperholic’s first-ever staging in Kumasi, attracted thousands of fans who braved the downpour to celebrate Ghana’s rap king. The event featured performances from Shatta Wale, Obrafour, Medikal, Efya, Kweku Bany, Hyundu, and several others. But it was Kofi Kinaata’s performance, coming just after the rains had threatened to dampen spirits that re-energized the crowd and kept the night alive.

Clad in his signature calm yet commanding presence, Kinaata delivered a set that had the soaked audience singing along word for word, transforming the rain-soaked stadium into a chorus of cheers and chants.

Videos of his performance have since gone viral across social media, reinforcing his reputation as one of Ghana’s most consistent live performers.

Sarkodie himself later thrilled fans with a string of his biggest hits, while surprise appearances from Obrafour, and a headline-grabbing cameo by Shatta Wale pushed the energy up. Despite production hiccups caused by the weather, the concert has been described as one of Kumasi’s biggest entertainment nights in recent years.
