In a move that underscores both symbolism and strategy, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia have rolled out a synchronised campaign offensive that is redefining how internal party politics is fought within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

While Dr. Bawumia rallies delegates and traditional leaders across the Western North Region, Hajia Samira is captivating party faithful in the Central Region, a rare example of a political couple splitting campaign duties to multiply their influence ahead of the NPP’s January 31, 2026 presidential primaries.

This twin-track operation marks a new phase in the Vice President’s flagbearership campaign, reflecting a blend of logistics, trust and partnership, elements that political observers say demonstrate a maturing political strategy designed to project unity and competence.

In the Central Region, the former Second Lady has been leading engagements with constituency executives, women organizers, and youth leaders. Her message has been consistent – Dr. Bawumia represents continuity, competence and renewed hope.

“We are building a movement of hope and competence,” she told a gathering in Cape Coast and added “Bawumia is the leader who can consolidate our gains and lead us to a victorious future.”

While Samira rallies the emotional and social energy of the base, her husband is focused on the structural and policy side of the campaign.

In the Western North Region, Dr. Bawumia’s meetings with delegates, traditional authorities, and community groups have emphasized his track record and plans for jobs, infrastructure and digital transformation.

A senior campaign aide described the double deployment as “a lesson in political efficiency.”

“It’s a coordinated push. Samira is inspiring loyalty and energy among the base, while Dr. Bawumia strengthens credibility and vision among opinion leaders. It’s two sides of the same strategy — emotional connection and intellectual persuasion,” the aide said.

Political analysts agree. Dr. Forson Gyan, a Political Scientist, called the approach “the clearest evidence yet that the Bawumia campaign is running a professional, data-driven operation.”

“Few campaigns can pull off two simultaneous regional tours at this scale,” Dr. Gyan noted, adding “The Bawumias have effectively turned partnership into strategy. Samira’s charisma complements the Vice President’s policy credentials, a blend that resonates with both the grassroots and elite wings of the party.”

With the primary drawing nearer, the Bawumia campaign’s two-front strategy signals an aggressive and comprehensive push to leave no delegate behind, proving that the race for the flagbearership is being fought with relentless energy and meticulous planning.
