The Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Project (SEHP) has held its annual charity event, SEHP Cares, in the community of Obom, in the Greater Accra Region.
Under the distinguished patronage of the esteemed founder and CEO, Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady, the event brought joy and support to widows, the aged and persons with disabilities.
The ceremony commenced with a welcome address by H.E Samira Bawumia, who expressed her deep gratitude to the community for their unwavering support.
She emphasised the importance of helping those who are often marginalised and overlooked, highlighting the significant role they play in society.
Madam Samira prayed that the good Lord who made this day possible will also make it possible for them to see the good things in 2024.
She said the NGO will continue to support the less privileged in the society to make sure that they receive the necessary support.
She continued that her foundation has also organized various activities and workshops to provide education and skills training for the people.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for the Domeabra Obom area, Abdul Wahab Mohammed, expressed his gratitude to the Second Lady and her Foundation for their kind gesture.
He acknowledged the challenges faced by the widows and persons with disabilities, acknowledging their strength and resilience in the face of adversity.
The candidate assured them that their voices would be heard and their needs met, promising to advocate for policies and initiatives that would improve their lives.

He emphasised the significance of unity in fostering progress and development and acknowledged the importance of their collective mission to uplift and empower the community.
Mr. Mohammed spoke of implementing programs that would provide vocational training and job opportunities, ensuring that the widows and persons with disabilities could lead independent and fulfilling lives.
