A rowdy scene ensued in the Senate on Wednesday after some lawmakers opposed a move to excuse former Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, and ministerial nominee, General Christopher Musa, rtd, from questioning.

DAILY POST reports that trouble started when the Senator representing Niger East, Sani Musa, proposed that the nominee be allowed to “take a bow and go”.

The suggestion was immediately rejected, with several senators rising to their feet and shouting in protest as the chamber became unsettled.

Recall that the Senate began the screening of General Christopher Musa, rtd, as the new Minister of Defence on Wednesday.

The Senate has yesterday started the screening of a former Chief of Defence Staff, CDS, General Christopher Musa, rtd, as the new Minister of Defence.

The screening followed Musa’s nomination by President Bola Tinubu.

If confirmed, Musa will replace a former defence minister, Mohammed Badaru, who resigned from the position.
