Cristiano Ronaldo came into the 2022 World Cup at 37 years of age and with four such tournaments already under his belt, but he still has plenty of unfinished business at this level.
The Portugal forward has never scored after the group stage at a World Cup and he will be desperate to correct that particular Achilles heel on Tuesday.
His country face Switzerland in the second game of the day, and both teams will already know whether they stand to face Spain or Morocco in the quarter-finals should they win.
It will be the fourth time that Ronaldo features in a World Cup round of 16, but he has never found the net in his previous attempts. In fact, he has never scored a goal in a World Cup knockout game.
On Tuesday, Ronaldo will have another attempt in what is surely his final World Cup.
His record stands at an impressive eight goals in five tournaments, but all came in the group stage.
