The Oforikom Municipal Assembly yesterday elected the Assemblyman for Apems-Deduako electoral area, Richard Nyarkoh, as the Assembly’s new Presiding Member (PM).
He replaces Frank Frimpong, Assembly member for Anwonaso electoral area.
The new Presiding member contested as unopposed and polled 16 votes after Kenneth Owusu Bediako and Kwame Owusu Basoah withdrew from the contest.
Richard Nyarkoh has since been sworn in by His Lordship Ebenezer Kweku Ansah, a Kumasi based High Court Judge.
The new presiding member thanked the almighty Lord as well as his two contenders for stepping down for him to become the PM of the Oforikom Municipal Assembly.
He also thanked the entire Assembly Members, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the Municipal Co-ordinating Director, Staff and the Electoral Commission officials for their collaboration to make the exercise a success.
Mr Nyarko called for the support of the Assembly for a successful tenure to help move the Assembly forward.
