PureEden Foundation (PEF), a non-profit organisation, has taken a significant step towards supporting menstrual health and education in rural communities.
On May 24, 2024 the foundation donated 100 packs of sanitary pads to girl-children at Ntraban Methodist Basic School and Yaara Roman Catholic (R/C) Basic School in the Kintampo North District of the Bono East Region.
The donation, which was in commemoration of the upcoming World Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28, 2024 was made possible by the Foundation’s Associate Executive Director, Ms. Louisa Mensah and her team, including Akosuah Danquah, a community development specialist and Ato Dennis Keelson, a journalist.
“We believe that every girl and young woman deserves access to safe and dignified menstrual health,” said Ms. Mensah.
“We are committed to working with communities to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all,” Ms. Louisa noted.
According to her, the donation was a significant step towards breaking down the stigma surrounding menstruation and supporting menstrual health and education in rural communities.
She indicated that PureEden Foundation’s commitment to creating a brighter future for all was evident in the smiles of the girl-children who received the sanitary pads.
Forty-seven (47) girl-children from both Ntraban Methodist and Yaara R/C Basic Schools received the sanitary pads, which will help them stay healthy and focused in school.
The Headmaster of Ntraban Methodist Basic School, Patakoh Kwame Mensah, expressed his gratitude for the donation and appealed for further support in renovating the school’s buildings and providing teaching and learning materials.
Before the donation, Ms. Mensah and Akosuah Danquah demonstrated to the girls how to use the sanitary pads, providing them with the knowledge and confidence to manage their menstrual health with dignity.
