ActionSA- a South African political party- has called for the President of the South African Football Association (SAFA), Danny Jordaan, to resign from his post.

The call was made after South Africa’s National Men’s Football Team’s-Bafana Bafana- got three points deducted from its tally gained thus far in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for fielding an unqualified player in its March 21, 2025 game against Lesotho.

SAFA got hit with a 3-0 forfeit and a fine of 9,000 Pound Sterling for fielding Teboho Mokoena [who was ineligible] in the game. SAFA has since stated its intention to appeal the decision by world football governing body FIFA’s decision. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

The development has also caught the attention of South Africa’s Sports Minister who described the situation as an embarrassment but for Action SA, Danny Jordaan and Bafana Bafana Team Manager Vincent Tseka must resign over the points’ deduction.

“ActionSA calls for the immediate resignation of SAFA President Danny Jordaan and the dismissal of the official directly responsible for the catastrophic, careless error that has derailed South Africa’s World Cup qualifying campaign.”
