An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a police officer, blogger, and teacher into police custody for allegedly robbing four Indian businessmen of cash and other valuable items worth thousands of cedis.
Helena Teye, aged 32, is a blogger and the first accused (A1) in the case; Abednego Bortier, 44, is a policeman; and Francis Omari, together with another at large, allegedly used threats and intimidation to rob the complainants of GH¢595,665.00, US$45,140.00, one iPhone 12 Pro Max, one iPhone 11, two iPhone 7, and one Infinix phone.
They also made away with one HP Laptop, one Dell Laptop, one iPhone 13, and four Indian passports, all properties of Girish Saohwani, Manish Kumar, Bhosale Vijau Kantilal, and Lalwani Sunil Kumar.
The accused are facing charges such as conspiracy to commit a crime and robbery.
The court, presided over by Her Honour Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie, today (July 28, 2023), did not take their plea upon a prayer of the prosecution.
The case has been adjourned to August 3, 2023.
