Police Probe Death of 20-Year-Old Senegalese in Kumasi

The Ashanti Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has begun investigations into the mysterious death of a 20-year-old Senegalese national, Cheith Toure, whose body has been deposited at the Ebenezer Mortuary at Tafo in Kumasi, a statement by the Ashanti regional police command has said.

According to police , initial enquiries revealed that the deceased was brought to the mortuary by an individual identified as Issah, who claimed to be his brother.

Further investigations at the Manhyia Government Hospital established that on October 16, 2025, the same Issah had taken the victim to the hospital in a critical condition with several abdominal injuries, claiming that Toure had been involved in an accident.

However, hospital records show that the young Senegalese was brought in dead.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has assured the public that it is doing everything possible to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death.

“The Police Command assures the public that every effort is being made to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding Mr. Toure’s death,” the statement said.

The Command has also appealed to members of the public who may have relevant information to assist in the ongoing investigations.

In a related development , the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno has deployed a special team made up of homicide investigators, forensic experts and intelligence officers to support the Ashanti Region Police Command with ongoing investigations into the death of a Senegalese National, Cheith Toure at Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region.

According to a statement issued by the police ,preliminary investigations has it that the incident occurred about two weeks ago.

“Investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death has so far revealed that on 16th October, 2025, One Issah who claimed to be the deceased’s brother, took the deceased to the Manhyia hospital with several abdominal injuries, alleging that the victim had been involved in an accident and later deposited the body at the Ebenezer mortuary at Tafo, Kumasi, after he was pronounced dead on arrival by the hospital authorities. It assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to unravel the case and any perpetrators brought to justice.
